Am I wrong to be pissed?

Hung out with some people. There was a girl who was from out of state studying at NYU (paying out of pocket may I add). We went to go somewhere else and she proudly proclaimed that she refuses to pay for the subway because “no real New Yorkers pay for the subway”. She then mentioned […]

What is your niche NYC community drama?

Hi- I’m curious about nyc residents pinch points in their communities and everyday lives, especially around where community and policy (institutional or legislative) conflict. Some examples that come to mind are the church that started charging rent to a longstanding food pantry, displacing them; the constant struggle with police parking on pedestrian sidewalks; the (Brooklyn?)

Anyone else in NYC sick with a strange non-covid illness that causes you to lose your voice for like an entire week?

I know 3 other people that got this. You lose your voice completely for like more than a week and you get this REALLY bad cough that switches constantly between dry and wet. You also just feel generally unwell. I don’t think it’s just the common cold. Anyone else get it or know someone who

How do you manage anger at people for not following NYC etiquette?

For example, people on their phones moving slowly up the stairs (not speaking to someone’s ability to walk fast but specifically them being slow because they’re texting), people on the subway listening to music or tiktoks or doing a FaceTime without headphones, people hogging the entire sidewalk and stuff. The other day a woman walked

Why are there so many people smoking crack in the subway nowadays?? And what to do when I see it?

I’ve lived here more than half my life and I literally just saw a man in broad fucking daylight smoking crack in Essex St station on the platform. I told some homeless outreach workers about it and all they said was they called the cops and they hopped on the next train that came. WTF

Leaving the office today in Union Square, I took the stairs instead of the elevator, only to find the first floor exit COMPLETELY blocked

I work in Union Square on the top floor of a high-rise office building. My company’s floor is split between two buildings (e.g. 234 and 238). This morning I took the elevator up in the 234 lobby. When I was leaving a little while ago, however, I decided to take the elevator in building 238,

Feeling extremely lonely

Hi everyone, I’m (23F) French and on vacation by myself in NYC and I feel so fucking alone. I can’t meet people, I feel overwhelmed and don’t know what to do. And when I see plenty of people in the street being all in groups laughing, or lovers taking a walk peacefully, I feel this

Yelp “Critic” writes a negative review of Ikigai and the business responds with their narrative based on video footage

I’m impressed by the professional response from Ikigai. When I see responses from businesses on Yelp, they’re usually verbally attacking the reviewer or asking the reviewer to contact the business to set up a comped follow up visit. It’s also more transparent than trying to censor the review by paying Yelp for deletion. submitted by

Nyc MTA attack

I was on the 6 train Sunday afternoon after watching the marathon and was attacked by a misogynist enraged white boy who tackled me trying to get onto a crowded train on 77th st. After telling him he hit me and to watch out — he told me to stfu and then the group he

Why the hell are there always 50 people in front of every Crumbl cookies?

I have walked by several different Crumbls recently just minding my own business and there has consistently been a ridiculous line down the street. Why? They are just oversize, oversugared cookies. I kinda get waiting in line for a uniquely NY place/place with some historic or cultural value, but Crumbl is just a random cookie
