$2.90 sliders with 100% grass-fed beef from Jubilee Marketplace in Greenpoint. They also have $5 whole rotisserie chicken.

Jubilee Marketplace (Greenpoint) – Google Maps Page Very tasty and high quality sliders, especially for the price. They’re more hefty than the average slider. Apparently the margins are very low on them. Used to be $2.55, but understandably higher now given everything is more expensive. Also used to be called a burger, but they caught

Kunafa Bites: my newest favorite food truck makes fresh kunafa until midnight (Astoria, Queens)

Kunafa Bites – Google Maps Page This Nablus kunafa comes in multiple sizes. This was the medium for $15, if I remember correctly. Took about 7-8 min to freshly make. It was excellent. Crispy on top with gooey stretchy cheese on the bottom. It was sweet, syrupy, and nutty from the pistachios. I damn near

At Boqueria, you must eat their $50 paella, their signature dish, in 15 minutes and leave

We booked a table at 4 pm on a weekday at Boqueria at 40th st. When we ordered their seafood paella, the waiter told us it can take an hour to prepare and then we must vacate the table by 5:15, giving us only 15 minutes to eat it. (Nowhere in our opentable reservation did

Din Soup Dumplings 鼎泰轩 | Brooklyn Heights Mini Dumplings

Their mini dumplings tasted really good, as well as their crab & pork soup dumplings. I just wish they provided more mini dumplings and didn’t add a bunch of lettuce at the bottom of the container to give the illusion that there were more than there actually were. Gao Xiao Pa’s $6 rou jia mo (“Chinese burger”) cooked using a vertical rotisserie like in al pastor and shawarma (Flushing, Queens)

Gao Xiao Pa – Google Maps This is a more unique take on rou jia mo with stacked marinated chicken thigh cooked on a vertical rotisserie. They even have pineapple on top of the spit like al pastor would. Think you can get a slice of pineapple with your rou jia mo if you ask.

Mama Yoshi’s Minimart (1711 Grove St. Ridgewood/ Wycloff-Mytle L train stop/Seneca M/J stop)

Just had lunch at this Ridgewood outpost that’s been on my list for years. Mama Yoshi is a neighborhood fast casual restaurant that serves chicken katsu sandwiches, breakfast burritos, and katsu curry bowls. They also sell an assortment of imported Japanese pantry goods and snacks like ramen, curry blocks, staple condiments, chocolate bars, and canned

Is it just me or is it just ridiculously more expensive to dine out, and the rise has been quite recent?

I’m a frugal diner, usually solo, and I’m always very calculative about meals. I like going to normal restaurants, nothing much upscale, and I usually order 2 things max (entree + either app, dessert, or non alcoholic drink) I feel like even a year or year and a half ago I used to spend between

Babka review!

Starting a new training program called fat a** runs. Where me, the fat a** runs to a bakery of my choosing to get a sweet treat that cancels out the whole run I just did. Today’s run was motivated by babka. I ran 10 miles around Manhattan and over the Williamsburg bridge to Oneg Bakery
