PSA: If you’re registered to vote by mail-in & didn’t, you can still vote in person today

I live in Brooklyn, NY (Kings County). I am registered to vote by mail-in ballot, but didn’t fill it out. I went to the polls this morning and they initially turned me away because they saw I was registered to vote mail-in. They told me I had to wait until the next election to vote.

The only reason I was able to cast my vote is because I looked it up. I found that registered mail-in voters can vote in person on Election Day if they complete an affidavit ballot.

Once I brought this up to the poll workers, they resisted a bit until another poll worker at a different table overheard and explained the process to them. They gave me the affidavit ballot. It was super quick and easy to complete — and I got to cast my vote today.

Please do your own research about your rights to vote & consider volunteering as a poll worker to help support others’ right to vote in future elections.
