Do you shower before going to bed if you’ve been out during the day?

I’m a firm believer of if you’ve been out (on the subway, running errands etc. ie not just popping down to the downstairs bodega) you shower before getting into bed. You don’t want to carry all the filth/germs/grime from the city into bed. My partner completely disagrees and is ok not showering.

I need the NYC hivemind to answer this.
