I recently moved from Toronto to the area. My job is near White Plains so I stupidly decided to lease an apartment here (I have since come to learn most people only come in 1 x a week since they all live in the city). I barely know anyone in NY.
I made a mistake with that and now I’m stuck for another 9-10 months. I’m noticing there’s few people my age (late 20s) here and I don’t like to hang out here so I’m always taking the train down to the city (which thankfully is right across my apt and only takes 35-40 mins).
When I tell people in the city I live in white plains they seem to pull back (both dating and bumble BFF).
I plan on living somewhere in Manhattan next year (or earlier if I break my lease (2x month penalty) or sublet). So I want to try to make friends in the city.
Does anyone have any ideas? Im usually open to doing things myself like restaurants and plays, but I feel sad seeing all these groups of friends out.
Someone suggested an improv class? Again I worry I say white plains and people seem to blank out.
