Does Anyone Understand How Legionnaires Disease Is Infecting People In Harlem?

The messaging from officials around how people in Harlem are being infected with Legionnaires has been embarrassingly bad. All they’re saying is if you feel flu like symptoms go to the hospital. Nothing specific about how people are being infected, or how to prevent infections from occurring. The most I’ve been able to gather is

Spend the extra $0.50 for the sour veg at Shu Jiao Fu Zhou, worth every penny

https://www.yelp.com/biz/shu-jiao-fu-zhou-new-york-2 Can’t remember who from this sub first advised me to do this, but I’m glad they did because I can’t get the peanut noodles any other way now. Add in some of that chili sauce and you’ve got a winning combo. submitted by /u/eldersveld [link] [comments]

What does a guy in his 30’s got to do by himself on a Saturday night?

31M. Was kinda hesitant to post this, but honestly—fkkk it. What do I have to lose? If I’m feeling this way, chances are someone else is too. Lately I’ve been feeling pretty isolated. Most weekends blur into doomscrolling, half-watching stuff, and just hanging around my apartment. Not terrible, just kind of…numb. I miss feeling connected.

Why are New Yorkers much more accepting and welcoming of immigrants from other continents (Europe, Asia, etc) than of transplants/expats?

I noticed a pattern on social media where New Yorkers, especially the natives, seem to speak of transplants in a rather negative light, saying stuff like “They’ll never be real New Yorkers” and mean stuff like that. Still, the same people seem to be much kinder and welcoming towards immigrants from other countries and have

Would you do a few hours of volunteer work for a guaranteed reservation at Semma or Don Angie?

Hello! I’m hoping to get some feedback on an idea that popped into my head at 2 am. The restaurant reservation system is broken. You either stay up until midnight refreshing Resy, or you pay for access (Dorsia, AmEx Global Dining, AppointmentTrader, etc.). I started wondering what if all the effort we put into chasing

Weird tip %?

Went to the restaurant in East Village for dinner today. While checking the bill, I noticed that the gratuity % provided by the restaurant is out of nowhere…? 20% tip without tax must be $16.30; if they included the tax it must be $17.63 anyways. Am I missing something? Getting sick of the places playing

Salt Hanks is a facade

They already had short hours in the beginning by only opening Wednesday to Sunday and “selling out” by 2 pm every day. They have now cut Wednesday to closed, so they are essentially open less than 12 hours a week while paying rent in the west village. How are they pulling a profit? It’s all

Uber Airport Scam

Normally, we always pick up my mom from the airport, but we asked her to take a taxi this time. Within minutes, she called saying she was already in a car. That felt way too fast, so we asked what color the car was—she said black. Right then, I had a feeling something was off.
