I’m NOT talking about genuinely significant perks that affect your entire lifestyle here, like “walkability” or “access to diverse cuisines.”
I’m talking about the very, very little bonuses that you take for granted here, not thinking about how uncommon they are elsewhere.
For example, there was a TIL a few days ago about a marketing campaign for Red Bull, and some of the commenters started talking about times when they’d encountered Red Bull marketing teams just giving away free Red Bulls at rest stops and other such locations. Many were treating this as some sort of novel concept, that a brand would promote itself by giving away free items.
Obviously, in NYC, coming across brands giving out free samples and products is a common occurrence. Threads like that one make me realize how we take it for granted. That’s the type of little perk I’m talking about.
