I’m going to be homeless this Friday and I honestly don’t know what else to do. I’ve been job searching for over a year and nothing has come through. I’m not looking for advice on “fixing my resume”, I’ve already redone it countless times, tailored it, gotten referrals, and still run into ghost jobs, internal hires, or roles that never actually get filled. The same jobs I saw hiring 8 months ago, are still “hiring”. It’s all just free promo.
I’ve been working since I was 14. I’m qualified for entry-level and more, but I rarely even get interviews. I was rejected from a coordination role because I don’t have a car? In a big city? Where no one drives?? even though I live within 35 minutes of both offices. A pastry shop i follow thats really good posted they were hiring for one position 3 months ago, and somehow theyre still seaching? How is this not illegal. I’m genuinely curious how many positions I’ve applied for that have been a waste of my time because they’re not real.
The only reason I’m about to lose housing is because no one is actually hiring. I don’t have family support. My friend out of state is taking my dog, shes 11 so theres a chance i might not see her again depending how long im in this situation. Another friend in Toronto said I could live with her, but I have $150 to my name, so even getting to a safer situation isn’t realistic right now. Flights are too expensive, especially last minute.
At this point, I just need someone to give me a chance. If anyone has a real job lead, or knows someone who is genuinely hiring, please reach out.
