i don’t know if it’s just my area but lately i’ve noticed a bunch of bodegas seem to be getting really sneaky about pricing. like nothing has a price tag, and when you go to check out, it’s some random number that seems to change depending on who’s ringing you up.
yesterday i grabbed a bag of chips and a bottle of iced tea. figured it’d be around 4 or 5 bucks at most. nope. dude rings it up at 7.25 and just stares at me like i’m dumb for asking how much each item was. it’s not about the money really, it’s that weird vibe of “we charge whatever we want and you can’t question it.”
i get that rent is high and everyone is struggling but it’s just shady. like at least put a little sticker on the shelf so i know what i’m agreeing to buy before i get cornered at the register.
