What will it take for cyclists to stop at red lights on the Central Park loop?

It’s getting insane. On busy cycling days, trying to cross the street in Central Park is a legitimate hazard to your health. It’s like playing frogger with a bunch of people who think they’re in the Tour de France.

It makes me unbelievably mad. In just the last few days I saw an elderly woman almost get plowed over (she subsequently started yelling at the cyclists, almost in tears), and a disabled person in a power assisted chair who couldn’t cross while the light was red, because nobody would stop.

If there’s nobody crossing, then fine, blow through the red light. But otherwise, just stop. I know it’s annoying to have your workout paused for 5 seconds, but you’re in a public park, not a private racing track.
