Unfortunately I am not a local (yet), but I come to the city at least 4-5 times a year, so I want to say I know my way around the city when it comes to food. I think this visit was my favorite one!
What I love the most about NYC is that there are and always will be so many new places to visit which are amazing, so I never run out of places to try.
1. Bánh Anh Em — Xôi Thịt Kho: by far the best Vietnamese food I’ve had. Been here 3 times already.
2. The Four Horseman — Oeuf Mayonnaise: I’ve been dying to come here for years, and man did it live up to the hype.
3. PAOLINA — Falafel Pita: really really good falafel.
4. Double Chicken Please — Custard Bun Drink: loved my time here, wouldn’t say my favorite bar in the city, but definitely worth checking out at least once.
5. Theodora — Lamb Laffa: another really hyped up spot that lived up to the hype imo. The Jasper oven truly is a game changer.
6. Oyatte — Cara Cara Orange Dessert: was VERY lucky to get a reservation here. I had a phenomenal meal here. Wouldn’t say it’s the absolute best I’ve had, but it’s definitely up there.
7. Radio Bakery — Pastry box: while their pastries are already amazing, the sandwiches are what I usually go there for. So simple yet perfect.
8. Smithereens — Steamed Hake: already had an amazing dinner here before, but this time I came for lunch was amazing.
9. Claud — Mille-Feuille: second visit here. One of my favorite spots in the city. Also likely unpopular take but the rice pudding is better than the chocolate cake.
10. Carnitas Ramirez — Tacos: sooooo good. I also had the gorditas which was actually incredible.
11. Clemente Bar — Doctor’s order cocktail: some of the best cocktail bars in the city, from the atmosphere and service to the drinks, absolutely top notch.
12. Gao Xiao Pa — Chinese burger: this was part of a flushing food crawl, but this was definitely a highlight. Loved the seasoning and how light it was.
13. Sushi 35 West — Sushi premium and rolls: my favorite takeout sushi spot. A must on every visit
14. Chalong — Jeeb Pu, Potato puffs, and Baerng Golae: amazing Thai food. While everything was super delicious, the pad Thai there was actually incredible. Not your typical pad Thai at all.
15. Golden Diner — Chicken katsu club: the pancakes are indeed worth it. But I also love their club sandwich and wings.
16. Thai Diner — Coconut Sundae: I really liked it, not the best Thai I’ve had, but still great. The coconut sundae was amazing though.
17. LaRina Pastificio & Vino — Agnolotti, Lasagna, and Gnoccheti : So good. An Italian spot that deserves so much more hype. While the desserts didn’t wow me, everything else before then was spectacular.
18. schmuck. — Margarita and cream cocktail: I did not expect to love it that much. Easily in my top 5 bars I’ve been to. The Margarita and cream and Larb Gai are up there in some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had.
19. Lords — Corned beef pie: great British food. The corned beef and fries definitely stole the show. I will say that I prefer Dame though.
20. Angel’s Share — Vibe: my absolute favorite bar of all time. A must visit every time I’m back in the city.
That’s not everything I’ve had. But I can’t wait to my next visit (or finally move here) and explore new spots.
