My birthday and woke up this morning like hmm let’s try to go to Minetta Tavern and walk in with no reservation with my wife.
We had a back up spot nearby (Old Tbilisi Garden, can never get enough khachapuri) in case they told us to fuck off.
Walked in around 1pm and asked to sit at the bar which was packed, told them it was my birthday and they were like yes give us one minute and I’m thinking yeah ok this is going to be like 40 minutes wait.
10 seconds later bartender was calling out /u/BlondDeutcher and we were ordering. (To be fair the couple behind us they did say it’s 30-40min wait so perhaps we just got very lucky on timing).
Was very basic and got the Black Label (10/10). Bone marrow (12/10) and wife got the lobster roll which she really liked.
Bartender was a saint and bought me a $15 beer which we greatly appreciated.
All in all a great experience and will definitely try to just walk in and sit at the bar more often.
