Are the $3-600 per person restaurants worth it?

been seeing all these posts about the crazy expensive tasting menu spots (EMP, Le Bernardier, Per Se, etc) and honestly considering pulling the trigger for my 30th birthday next month

but like… $300-600 per person? that’s rent money lol

for those who’ve actually done it – was it genuinely life-changing food or just instagram flex? i’m talking specifically about the ultra high-end spots, not like a nice $150pp dinner which i’ve done and enjoyed

context: i’m not rich but i’ve been saving up and could technically afford it without eating ramen for a month after. just can’t decide if it’s one of those “you gotta experience it once” things or if i’m better off doing like 5 amazing $100 meals instead

the foodie in me says do it, the part of me that grew up on bodega sandwiches is screaming. my gf is leaving it up to me but i know she’s thinking the same thing – we could literally fly to montreal and eat for a weekend with that money

particularly interested if anyone’s been to multiple and can say which one is actually “worth it” vs just hype. or if you went and legitimately regretted it. help me out here, i’ve been flip flopping on this for weeks

(and yes i know about the contraband supplemental slice of pizza after, that’s already factored in)
