There was no way I was standing in line for that long, so a month ago, I booked a reservation at Golden Diner (not easy btw, I had to be very quick cause the spots disappear in seconds). I didn’t mind waiting a month to try it. What I went for is the honey butter pancakes.
The pancakes are so soft and fluffy, the honey flavor is really good and prominent. I was worried the honey flavor wouldn’t be strong enough but thankfully it was. The pancakes soak up the honey butter maple syrup so well that even when it’s no longer visible on the plate, you don’t need more of it cause it’s all soaked into the pancake. The waitress asked if I needed more of the syrup and I didn’t at all. It’s also not too sweet imo, which was a nice surprise. I love my sweets and overly sweet things but I can appreciate when something is so good and has the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet.
The berry compote is really nice too and also not overly sweet. It brings variety and a different flavor to some bites so I’d recommend getting it on the side. The lemon zest adds a nice hint of lemon without being completely overpowering. Plus this has a balanced amount of salt. I’m happy I got to try these pancakes, and I would actually go back for them. I’m still not waiting in line lol but I’d book another reservation.
