Golden Hof sister to Golden Diner’s one year anniversary specials tonight

Sometimes when I bring up Golden Hof in here a few smart ones say shhhh they want to gatekeep it and not blow it up. It’s chef Sam Yoo’s sister restaurant to Golden Diner in a much bigger space in midtown. And you can get the insanely great best I’ve ever eaten pancakes from Golden Diner there in a mini size perfect for dessert, with fairly easy to get reservations and no crazy line.

But you can also get full on Korean BBQ, raw seafood, some of Golden Diner’s hits including one of my favorite deliciously charred burgers in NYC… And the most underrated dish, a pork broth out of this world kimchi jigae (stew) that I rank as equally best with Meju’s Hooni Kim’s take on the Korean comfort classic. As a Korean American this is a dream restaurant for me. My partner even got wonderfully fresh bibibmbap with shortrib kalbi chunks.

Well today to mark their one year anniversary they’ve got a one night only mind blowing special: carbonara rice cakes with guanicale and Parmesan and Calabrian chili oil with sliced Korean chewy tteokbokki rice cakes that was so so so good, if you can get it tonight I highly recommend it, wish it was on the regular menu. It’s everything the chef is great at, you can tell he cooked in Torrisi and Momofuku and his parent’s Korean restaurants.
