Do NYers wear less boots and more sneakers than they used to 10+ years ago?

I don’t know if I remember this correctly but I swear I used to see more boots out on the street. Now it’s so much Hoka, On, and other sneakers. It could be pouring rain and almost everyone is still wearing (white) sneakers, not rain boots. Does anyone else remember?
