I used to love applying to housing lotteries in college- hoping for a miracle.
Fast forward about 3 years… I now have a big girl job, so I decided to start applying again! At first I thought it was just bad timing, but It officially dawned on me that almost every single building was either very very expensive for my range or they skipped over my income range COMPLETELY (everything was $10,000-$40,000 Lower in income or $10,000-$90,000 higher in income).
I’m aware that the housing lottery isn’t the end all be all of my apartment search and I am proud of where I brought myself from but I can’t help but feel like I am being punished for making it out. But also punished for not making $90,000 more.
Am I crazy or is it truly just bad timing? I was so broke I truly never made attention to the middle or high incomes ( maybe it’s always been this way and I am just now noticing)
