Fridman Gallery presents Italy Calls the World, a collaborative exhibition of visual art and poetry curated by Francesca Callipari. The show runs June 21–24, 2026 at 169 Bowery on the Lower East Side, opening with a vernissage reception on Sunday, June 21 from 6–11 pm.
Curated as a response to a fragmented cultural moment, Italy Calls the World brings together international artists across painting, digital art, and poetry to build a collective narrative rooted in beauty and cross-cultural exchange. The exhibition arrives at a strategically significant moment: Fridman Gallery sits steps from the New Museum of Contemporary Art, which reopens this season following a two-year expansion, drawing a global influx of collectors, critics, and curators to the Bowery.
Alongside the physical exhibition, a digital presentation extends the work of an additional 40 artists, and the gallery will host the Feed Your Soul poetry project, in which selected poets’ works are printed and distributed free of charge to visitors. The project positions poetry not as commodity but as living medium, transforming reading into an act of sharing within the gallery space.
The exhibition spans 34 artists in the physical show and more than 40 in the digital presentation, alongside eight participating poets. Together, the works form what Callipari describes as a mapping of contemporary creativity, one that positions beauty as a force capable of generating genuine global community.
Italy Calls the World is a rare, time-limited event with just four days on view. With the New Museum reopening drawing international attention to the neighborhood, the Bowery will be a focal point for the global art world this June.
