Textile Art Gallery NYC Opens Fiber Iterations, a Juried Show of 53 Fiber and Textile Artists, in Chelsea Through August 28
Textile Art Gallery NYC presents Fiber Iterations, a juried group exhibition showcasing the breadth and innovation of contemporary fiber and textile art. On view August 3 through August 28, 2026, the show opens with a public reception on Thursday, August 6, from 4 to 6 PM at 529 West 20th Street, 6th Floor, in Chelsea. Admission is free.
Nearly 300 artists submitted work in response to the gallery’s open call, resulting in a highly competitive selection process. From that field, 53 artists were chosen, bringing together work that spans weaving, embroidery, quilting, felting, tapestry, soft sculpture, mixed media, and experimental textile processes. The exhibition is organized around the gallery’s ongoing interest in fiber art that pushes beyond technique — work that engages cultural narratives, examines materiality and sustainability, and uses textile forms as a vehicle for identity and storytelling. The range on view moves from deeply traditional practices to boundary-pushing contemporary explorations, united by the expressive potential of fiber as a medium.
The exhibition is juried by Petra Fallaux, a Dutch-born writer, curator, and artist based in Pittsburgh, PA, who described the submissions as “second to none,” citing the outstanding creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation of the participating artists. Textile Art Gallery NYC opened in Chelsea’s Landmark Arts Building in early 2026 as an artist-run space dedicated to advancing textile-based practices as rigorous contemporary art. Its inaugural exhibition, Surface Tension, introduced the gallery’s founding artists; Fiber Iterations marks its first annual open juried show and its largest exhibition to date.
